Oh greed..
Greed, they say, is good. And what a greedy bunch of get-rich-quick schemers we have in dotelkay.
Sakvithi made off with (supposedly) five billion rupees, Seagull Software (remember them) made off with about the same, GoldQuest (ah GoldQuest) made off with a lot more. Even if you don't believe the number, after all, this is dotelkay, where exaggeration is an art form, a hell of a lot of money was scammed by them.
But they're not the greedy bastards are they?
The greediest of the lot are the people who invested in them. And in my books, highly deserving of what they got.
Oh yes, here I am, an uncaring bastard who doesn't give a shit for those people whose money was lost. The poor ranaviruwas, pitiful patients, homeless newlyweds. My word to them, fuck 'em!
The issue is simple. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. If someone offers you a shitload of money for working a few hours a day at home, start asking yourself, why are they offering me this? After all, they're businessmen, and they're not in it for love. They're in it for money.
But people are idiots. And there are lots of scam artists who can make their money this way.
And look at who gets fleeced, and why. People invested the money looking for, guess what, more money! People are happy to get 6% interest per month. People are happy to not have to have their assets reported to the Inland Revenue Department. People are happy not to pay taxes. Or, as in the case of the many cops and government servants who invested money, they are happy not to get pulled in front of the Bribery Commission.
There are lots of people asking the government for help. They want the government to pay for their deposits. And when they say Government they mean us! The people smart enough not to get involved in this shit. And we're supposed to bail those idiots out?
There is an old saying, you can't cheat an honest man.
I doubt any of the people who invested in any of these scams are honest in the sense of the word.
