There's gonna be some changes
Change is good. Almost as good as risk, and possibly better than greed. And boy have there been some changes in my life of late.
As you can see, the layout changed. I was getting tired of the old green layout, so I took advantage of blogger's new XML based layouts. This is what lets me have the label cloud and many other luvverly little bits and pieces. Of course, the layout I started with was green, again, but I spent more than a few days writing up the XML so I could get it in purple. I like purple.
But it's fun to tweak a site. It's instant gratification to make a change and then see the change reflected across the whole site. In fact, it's pretty fucking cool.
There were some other changes made as well. I'm a big Slackware fan, but I moved across from that to Ubuntu (because of shinyness). Of late I grew tired of Ubuntu, not because it didn't have enough shinyness for me, but because it was just.. too easy. So now Your's Truly is on Debian and likely -to stay there for a while. Maybe Rasmus Lerdorf will stop by to snigger at me.
I'll miss working on Slackware, but with more and more companies going for Debian, Ubuntu and RHEL, I need the experience. But I must say, working on Slack gave me a lot of knowledge on what Linux is and how it's put together. Debian, on the other hand, has a better package mangement system (a long sight better than RedHat'sYUM) but doesn't have as many packages as Ubuntu.
I'll write a full post on the move to Debian later.
And in other news, Heath Ledger took the fast way out. I remember seeing him in The Patriot (which was OK), and The Brothers Grimm (which was good), and I find he was in 10 Things I Hate About You which I also saw, but didn't really remember him in. I found something very interesting in a news item or a blog post. Could he have been the victim of self-induced psychosis?
According to many critics, he seemed to be the kind of person that takes a role into himself, really working the role. And seeing the trailer for The dark Knight, it's possible to see how he could be drawn into the character of The Joker. Because The Joker really is a strong character. So the question is, could Heath ledger, after internalising The Joker, have suffered some form of psychotic episode that lead to his death? It's an interesting theory, and I wish I knew the answer. I'll definitely be watching the movie when it comes out. But this time, I'll be cheering for the villain.
