Paranoia paranoia
everybody's coming to get me..
Actually, there is no such thing as paranoid anymore as far as the government is concerned. They really are out to get you. And yet, no one in dotelkay seems to notice or care.
Am I the only one around who feels that the government in dotelkay is becoming more and more invasive? That we are being lied to? That things are NOT what they appear to be? Sweet Eris say it ain't so..
But I guess no one can see it or care.. or have we already forgotten the lessons of history? That Hitler came to power amidst the cheers of a defeated Germany? The times in 88-90 when people were listening to Veritas and VOA and BBC Asia on shortwave radios? The way that people's rights have been constantly abused by those in power just so they could stay in power?
It may be that I am seeing a bear behind every bush. It is entirely possible that every thing I see as a big conspiracy really isn't.. It may also be possible that I am (Eris forbid) right..
Lets take a few cases in point:
- Janet Jackson's nipple, and WMD's in Iraq
I'm not sure anyone noticed this, but just before the superbowl nipple flash, David Kay the head of the Iraq Survey Group resigned and testified before a senate committe that
"Let me begin by saying, we were almost all wrong, and I certainly include myself here...the French president, [Jacques] Chirac, as I recall in April of last year, referred to Iraq's possession of WMD...The Germans certainly -- the intelligence service believed that there were WMD...It turns out that we were all wrong, probably in my judgment, and that is most disturbing."
Is there a coincidence between the fact that this rather juicy little titbit was released to the world on the same day that Janet showed her titbit (ooooh you NASTY GIRL!!!)? Personally I think so. Many US governments have chosen Superbowl Sunday to release unpopular news to the country because that is the day that NO ONE pays attention to the news
- Buddha's rays and the Sri Lankan situation
Just as things started to get bad in Sri Lanka, the war ramping up, various badnesses happening everywhere, strange reports started to show up in the newsmedia. The flame carrying demon of Kataragama, the aliens who landed in Thanamalwila (which is famous for good ganja.. intergalactic stoners??), and of course the buddha rays.. This is actually quite normal. When a country is undergoing social and economic uncertainty people turn to the supernatural in order to gain some stability. It's like a stressed out man all of a sudden deciding he's Napoleon.. But my question is .. did they fall, did they jump, or were they pushed? This kind of bread and circuses approach has been used well by other countries, what's to stop them from doing the same thing here?
- The LTTE bombing schools
Does anyone remember the bomb scare in late June? Apparently 5 schools were to be bombed my the LTTE.. Apparently it was on a website.. Apparently whatever school the person's kid was going to was one of them.. Why do I feel that this rumour was started by the Powers that Be so that they could clamp down security in the areas? The first step to making people give up their freedoms is to make them fear. Then they will let you do anything, take away any freedom just to get rid of the fear. Take a look at advertising.
- Step 1 - create anxiety - girl gets ignored by guy.
- Step 2 - solution to anxiety - girl uses fair & lovely cream.
- Step 3 - the payoff - guy falls in love with girl who has quite literally applied bleach on her face.
The US has a terror threat chart that goes up and down, every time they want to distract the people from news that would be detrimental to their image. There are many that would gain from a panic situation here in dotelkay, the jeppo, the jhuththo, the government.. but in this case I think this rumour was planted by the jeppo. It is more their style, but it could be a government snow job as well. Sometimes there are just too many people who benefit, its hard to tell whodunnit
- The Borella claymore
I'm not the only one who thinks that this claymore doesn't fit the modus operandi of the LTTE. There has never been a case where the LTTE abandoned a bomb/attack plan when they were threatened. They have ALWAYS attacked, even if they missed the primary target. Witness the attempt to blow up Ratwatte in 2000(?).. When confronted by the cops they attacked, killing the cops and using RPG's against anyone who came near them. Ratwatte escaped and went on to massacre innocents at Udutalawinna in order to gain votes and stole somewhere in the vicinity of 100 million rupees (that we know of). But the points to remember are:
- The police screwed up the last two bmbs in style - they received information of suspicious vehicles in the area hours before the bombs went off and did nothing
- They found the bomb in an area that had NO targets of any consequence, even the parlimentarian types don't go by that way.
- The bomb was not detonated, the remote detonator was found close by, and ultimately a few cobblers and street people who hang around there who just happen to be tamil were "taken in for questioning."
I smell a rat and the rat's wearing khaki
I guess many people would call me paranoid, but you see, i have great faith in the capacity for evil of the human being. We have great capacity for good too, but all our politicians have made their way up a very dirty game. We vote for the biggest and most successful thug in a game full of thugs. They are after power for its own sake and are willing to do anything to get it. Lord Acton was only half right. Power does tend to corrupt, but what truly corrupts is the pursuit of power.
And when they gain that power that they so crave, they would do anything to keep it. Switch parties, sell off their wives and children if they had to. Threaten, kill, massacre.. its all good. And we still have people who say "trust the government, they know what's good for you." Fuck that shit. I'm not touching it with a big stick. And remember people, just because you're paranoid, doesn't mean they're not out to get you.
